Brittany - 10 bedroom manoir in pristine condition
OFFERED THROUGH OUR PARTNER AGENTS - A sublime 15th Century manor house steeped in history and renovated to the highest standard. The property has 10 bedrooms, 5 of which have en suites, a charming and well equipped fitted kitchen and superb living space with magnificent fireplaces, a mezzanine gallery and spiral stone staircase. Situated in 7 acres in a lovely tranquil setting only 5-10 mins from beautiful coves and a large sandy bay. Equestrian facilities include a superb sand ménage and stabling.
This really is an exceptional home, renovated by quality artisans under the close supervision of the current owners who have a passion for character properties. Steeped in history, this is truly a manorial property with its own extensive land and expansive views over a beautiful forest; just one other house is visible on a hilltop in the far distance.
The manoir is an L shape with a turret at the centre; the re-slated roof is a work of art and the stonework magnificent. Inside the accommodation is extensive and includes:
- on the ground floor: a fitted kitchen with 6 burner cooker and a full range of cream fitted units with black accessories, 2 sitting rooms each with a stone fireplace, a large dining hall with mezzanine gallery above and a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom;
- on the first floor: mezzanine gallery with fireplace, a superb entertainment space; 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms;
- on the second floor: 3 bedrooms, 2 with en suites and the third bedroom has another room above it which is refurbished, but currently unused.
There is a self contained two bedroomed house at one end of the property. Downstairs it has an open plan living area with a white fitted kitchen and a lounge area with a fireplace. There is also a downstairs bathroom/laundry and on the first floor, 2 bedrooms and a WC. This is ideal caretaker accommodation or, if you wish to rent out the manoir, owners' accommodation for letting periods.
The property has a stone garage building in good order, around 16m x 6m which could be ideal to use as loose boxes - it depends whether you are more excited by four wheels or four legs! The ménage was professionally installed and is a good size at 20m x 30m. It is adjacent to the house and overlooked by the terrace which is ideal. At the side of it is a large open hangar where 6 animals are currently stabled and it's very handy for the tractor, etc. Much of the land is pasture, the current owners estimate around 2 hectares, and this is all stock fenced.
This is a house to visit if you are looking for an impressive yet comfortable family home, the atmosphere is superb and it is ready for you to enjoy immediately. If you wish to generate an income from the property that is also in place for you. This is one to visit, it's hard to convey in mere words just how very special this home is - do come and have a look.
Situated on the border of Cotes d'Armor and Finistere the manoir is ideally placed for exploring these 2 departments. The nearest large town is Morlaix, just 15 minutes away it has a picturesque port with many sailing boats and plenty of museums, art galleries and 17th century houses to visit. Also, in August, there is a highly colourful "Art in the Streets" festival, in which street theatre takes place all over the town. The old town is still, in parts, medieval. There is a huge viaduct, made out of the local pink granite and Morlaix has many royal connections.
Get here by plane from the UK or Ireland into Brest, Dinard or Rennes airports or take the boat to Roscoff, St Malo or one of the more northerly ports. The TGV is available to Guingamp and the road network is excellent.
